The Mules Top Tufts in Hard Fought Win

Medford, Mass. - The Colby Women's Basketball team gets their second NESCAC win against Tufts University edging the Jumbos 67-64 and are now 2-0 in the conference and 9-4 overall. Tufts falls to 7-7 on the year and 0-2 in the conference.

Another game coming down to the wire as the teams were within two points at the end of each quarter. With the score going back and forth the Mules made sure to capitalize on every opportunity. With quick hands and transition they were able to score 17 points off turnovers and had a strong bench outing with 23 points. Team high points came from Kate Olenik putting up 17 closely followed by Caroline Hartley with 14. Colby denied some points as well with two steals coming from Olenik and Lydia Mordarski. Once again the Mules played strong around the net with 38 points in the paint and 25 rebounds.

Lydia Mordarski was quick on both sides of the ball with team high two offensive and three defensive rebounds in addition to her two assists, block, steal, and six points. Hartley lit up the stat sheet with team high three steals and an assist and a rebound added to her baskets. Amelia Hanscom once again had points in the double digits with 12 and grabbed four rebounds. With possession being vital in a close game steals can sway momentum which was aided by Shea Donnelly and Chelsea Ibenegbu who both got one of their own.

Colby is back in action on Wednesday January 14 at Husson University for a non conference matchup.
