Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Colby Barely Falls to #13 Amherst

Amherst, Massachusetts - Looking to grab a result in the second game of their doubleheader, Colby faced #13-ranked Amherst in another highly anticipated NESCAC matchup. An early goal from the Mammoths ended up being the decider, but the Mules went toe-to-toe with yet another strong team away from home. The 1-0 loss takes Colby to 4-3-2 on the season, and 0-3-2 in NESCAC conference play.

The Mules started the game on a strong note, capitalizing on a back-and-forth game by forcing three corners in the first ten minutes. Unfortunately, minutes later, Amherst took the lead, which forced both teams to settle into a rhythm. After pushing for the opener, the change in momentum only lasted briefly as Chase Dolinko forced the first save of the night for the Mammoths' goalkeeper. Colby ended the half on a strong note as Anthony Bugliari and Ethan Soroca also both tested the goalie, but ultimately the Mules trailed heading into the break, 1-0.

Coming out of the half, Amherst put pressure on Colby's defense, forcing two saves from Jackson Magee. Just as the Mules aimed to find an equalizer, the Mammoths looked to cushion their lead, which stunted Colby's momentum midway through the half. But the Mules responded well, creating multiple real chances in the last ten minutes of the game. Two shots from Andy Uku gave Colby some hope as one of them forced a good save. Minutes later, Chase Dolinko and Leo Robison attempted to tie the game but couldn't find the target.

Colby is back in action Saturday, October 4th, as they host Hamilton in another crucial NESCAC conference matchup.
