Waterville, Maine - In their first game back at home in three weeks, Colby hosted Hamilton in a crucial NESCAC conference matchup. Coming into the game with two points in the conference, the Mules needed a result against the Continentals to keep their playoff chances alive. After a back-and-forth defensive game, Colby earned a 0-0 draw to take their record to 4-3-3 overall and 0-3-3 in conference play.
From the whistle, the Mules had momentum as Theo Scott had a header two minutes in that barely pushed wide. The sophomore continued to pose a problem for Hamilton, as fifteen minutes later, he found space at the top of the box, but failed to hit the target. Good chances early on were promising, but Colby struggled to test the keeper, with Anthony Bugliari forcing the only save of the half. Defensively, the Mules looked strong but had a few scares late on as the Continentals looked dangerous from corners and had a header hit the post right before the break.
Coming out of the half, Hamilton continued to pose problems from corners, as two free headers from point-blank range were somehow saved by goalkeeper Jackson Magee. The sophomore kept Colby in the game as he came up with four crucial saves in the second half. Ultimately, a strong defensive performance from the Mules resulted in another important draw against a tough opponent.
Colby is back in action Saturday, October 11th, as they host Middlebury at 2 pm.
