Colby Rolls Past Thomas 3-0 to Open the 2025 Season

Waterville, Maine – Colby Volleyball opened their 2025 season with a sweep of Thomas College, 3-0 (25-3, 25-13, 25-6), in front of a lively home crowd at the Margaret M. Crook Center. The Mules controlled every facet of the match, improving to 1-0 on the season, while the Terriers fall to 0-5.

Colby came out firing in the first set, racing to an early lead and overwhelming Thomas College with efficient offense and relentless serving. The Mules cruised to a 25-3 win, setting the tone for the night. In set two, Thomas found a bit more rhythm, but Colby's balanced attack and steady defense kept the visitors at bay as the Mules extended their lead with a 25-13 victory. The third set mirrored the first, as Colby once again showcased their depth and composure, rolling to a 25-6 win to secure the sweep.

The Mules tallied 38 kills, 12 aces, four blocks, 36 assists, and 56 digs while hitting an impressive .405 as a team. In comparison, Thomas was held to four kills and a 0.185 hitting percentage. Colby's offensive and defensive efficiency highlights the team's strong potential for the season ahead.

Sophomore Cyanne Jones led the offense with seven kills, supported by first-year Kendall Glover and junior Brady Moseley with six apiece. Alli McKenney sparked the serving game with a team-high three aces, while Sydney DeProfio added two. At the net, Jones and Gabriella Towns each contributed two blocks. Jordan Lee directed the offense with 11 assists, while Gabby Grujic and Sydney Sick chipped in seven and six, respectively. Defensively, LJ Grant anchored the back row with 11 digs, followed by Reese Loyd and Jones with seven each.

Colby will be back in action on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:30PM, traveling to Biddeford, Maine, to face the University of New England.
