Mules Secure Comeback Win Versus Saint Joseph's

Standish, Maine - With a brief break in NESCAC play, the Mules traveled to Saint Joseph's College of Maine looking to keep their non-conference undefeated streak alive. Although conceding first, Colby responded strongly with three goals in the first half. The 3-1 win takes the Mules to 3-1-1 overall, while the Monks fall to 1-4-0.

From the whistle, Colby possessed the ball and put pressure on the opposing goalie's net. Early shots from Chase Dolinko and Joseph Beshel tested the Monk defense, but it wasn't the Mules who struck first. Against the run of play, Saint Joseph's found the back of the net, putting Colby in a familiar position of being down a goal. After going down a goal in two of their three previous games, the Mules have successfully found an equalizer, and they did so again today. Wingbacks CJ Supan and Will Kogelmann combined for Colby's first, the latter with his first career goal. Ten minutes later, Jude Gussen assisted Anthony Bugliari for the go-ahead goal. Bugliari continued to have an impact as Colin Leon found the sophomore for his second of the game four minutes later. The Mules led heading into the break, 3-1.
Although the scoreline didn't suggest it, the second half was even more dominant than the first for Colby. A red card late in the first half for the Monks meant the Mules were a man-up, allowing them to commit more players forward to try and extend their lead. Colby registered 14 shots in the second half, forcing four saves, and not allowing any shots on their end in the process. The road win was a strong showing and is a testament to the Mules' ability to bounce back from early setbacks and still come away with a victory.

Colby is back in action Saturday, September 20th, as they travel down to New London, Connecticut, to face NESCAC opponent Connecticut College.
