Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Soccer team hosted Tufts University this afternoon for a competitive NESCAC matchup. The Mules battled hard but fell to the Jumbos 2-0.
Both Colby and Tufts entered the game with high energy. The first half saw lots of back-and-forth play with many opportunities on each side. 14 minutes into the half, goaltender
MK Marshall came up big with two impressive back-to-back saves on strong Jumbo shots. Despite several close looks for Colby, Tufts broke through at the 30-minute mark to take a 1-0 lead. The Mules finished the half with 10 shots, while Marshall recorded five saves. Tufts doubled its advantage early in the second half at 46:17. From there, Colby continued to press, firing nine more shots, but couldn't find the back of the net. Marshall added three more saves for a game total of eight. Despite Colby's strong effort and persistence, the Jumbos held on for the 2-0 win.
The Mules will next travel to the University of New England on Tuesday night for a non-conference matchup at 7:00 PM.
