Waterville, Maine - Welcome to Colby Athletics' summer spotlight series, where we take a look into what Colby student-athletes are working on over the summer break. Up next we have rising senior
Sebastien Romain of Colby Football.
This summer, Sebastien has been working at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston as part of the Housing & Community Investments team. It's a small, highly collaborative group, and he has really enjoyed contributing to such a mission-driven environment. In Sebastien's role as an analyst, he reviews loan packages sent to their member banks and assists with evaluating the Bank's investment strategies in the real estate sector. Sebastien also conducts market research focused on the New England housing market to help inform investment decisions and policy direction. In addition to his research responsibilities, Sebastien had the opportunity to support financial analysis related to the Bank's investment portfolio and gain exposure to its capital markets activities. What makes his experience especially meaningful is the broader mission of the Bank—to expand access to affordable housing and support first-time home buyers in today's difficult market conditions. "Being part of a team that combines financial discipline with community impact has made this an incredibly rewarding experience," said Romain.

After the workday wraps up, Sebastien usually take the train home and heads straight to the gym. "The days can be long, but staying committed to my training is something I do for my teammates. On some evenings, I meet up with fellow athletes at the Harvard football field—many of us are in the area for the summer—and we push each other to stay sharp and focused. Whether it's in the weight room or on the field, we all share the same mindset: to go 1–0 every week."Â
Sebastien has also been volunteering as a youth football coach for his little cousin's 7th grade team over the summer. "It's a great group of players, and I really enjoy spending time with them. Coaching gives me the opportunity to teach valuable skills, encourage teamwork, and help the kids grow both on and off the field. It's been a rewarding experience, and I always look forward to each practice and game."
