Waterville, Maine -
Julian Young returns to the All-NESCAC First Team for the third straight year to headline Colby's six All-NESCAC honors.
Young capped a sterling career with a stellar performance in Colby's finale against Bowdoin, helping to bring the CBB trophy back to Waterville and earning NESAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in the span of five weeks. He finished his career with 295 total tackles, third behind James Scribner '99 (343) and Mike Moran '03 (310) for Colby's all-time tally. He led the conference in tackles as a junior and ranked second in his sophomore and senior seasons.
Keon Smart and
Atticus Duncan landed on the Offensive Second Team. Smart ranked second in the conference in rushing yards and finished his career as arguably the best receiving back in program history with 129 career receptions for 889 yards. With 1,744 rushing yards and over 300 yards in returns, Smart ended his four years with just under 3,000 all-purpose yards. Duncan emerged at the beginning of this year as an elite red zone threat, collecting four touchdowns in the first six weeks of the season. His blocking prowess at the edge of the offensive line gave defensive coordinators fits and led to monster games for the Mules, including six games where Colby gained over 100 yards rushing and a season-high 499 yards of offense against Bates.
Joshua East returned to the Defensive Second Team for the second straight year, joined by
Sebastien Romain as a first time selection. East is one of the league's premier cover corners, often marked up on opposing team's top receiving threats and ending his career with 20 pass break ups. Colby's defense led the conference with only eight receiving touchdowns allowed and allowed the fewest rushing yards per game (90.2). Romain emerged on the edge with tremendous run support and pass rush. He was tied with teammate
Jack Mullen to rank second in the NESCAC in sacks with nine and ranked fourth in tackles for loss. His two forced fumbles were tops in the conference, another area the Mules led all teams (12).
First-year
Jack Nye earned NESCAC Rookie of the Year, joining Moran (1999) and Matt Hersch '22 (2018) for Colby's ROY winners for Football. Nye was an amazing threat for the Mules in the passing game leading the team with 526 receiving yards (6th in NESCAC) on 36 receptions (11th in NESCAC).
