Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's Tennis Falls to #1 Tufts in NESCAC Tournament

Middlebury, Vt - The Colby Men's Tennis team traveled to Middlebury College to participate in the 2025 NESCAC Championship. The Mules, as the #8 seeds in the NESCAC, were to take on Tufts University, the #1 overall seed in the tournament.

In doubles play, there were multiple momentum swings back and forth. The Jumbos struck first with a 6-3 win at the #3 spot. Taking on the #2-ranked doubles pairing in the country, senior captain Jake Cohen and first-year Jason Daly found themselves with the lead, serving for the match to tie the doubles point up at 1-1 at the #1 spot. The duo fended off three break points, smashing an overhead to seal the impressive ranked win for the pair, 6-4, tying the doubles point up. The #2 spot would decide the all-important doubles point. Junior Aidan Kwong and first-year Marco Ziets-Segura found themselves down 5-2 against their Tufts opponents, but did not give up, raising their level to bring the set back to 5-4. Unfortunately for the Mules, the duo lost a deuce point at 5-4, giving Tufts the doubles point and a 1-0 lead in the dual match.

Tufts carried their momentum from doubles into singles play, winning the first set across all six courts. The Jumbos took the second point of the match, winning in straight sets at the #3 position. At the #5 spot, Tufts secured another straight sets victory, bringing the match within one point of decision. It was at the #1 spot, where the Jumbos secured the final point, securing the match 4-0.

The Mules fought hard, but ultimately could not pull off the upset against the #3 team in the country and #1 seed in the NESCAC tournament. The Colby Men's Tennis team finishes the year with an overall record of 7-10. With five seniors graduating, the team will look much younger next season, hungry to build off of this season's results.
