Box Score Williamstown, Mass. - The Colby Women's Lacrosse team extended their winning streak today against the Ephs of Williams College. Colby won with a score of 9-8, improving their NESCAC record to 6-2 and their overall record to 11-2.
Colby scored the first goal of the game, and more or less traded goals with Williams through the end of the first quarter for a score of 3-2 for the Mules. The Mules' defense was on fire in the second quarter, holding the Ephs to zero additional goals while securing three of their own for a score of 6-2 at the half. Both teams' defense picked up in the third quarter, each only securing a singular goal less than a minute apart from each other. Williams bounced back offensively in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't quite enough. Despite a great offensive showing by Williams with five goals scored, including a goal scored with less than a minute on the clock, it wasn't quite enough, and the Mules edged them out 9-8.
Ainsley Dion led the team in goals with five, followed by
Julia Maimonis with one and
Stella Regan,
Julia Jardina, and
Gennie Littlejohn each with one. Regan also led the team in assists with two. Defensively,
Lydia Carr led the team in caused turnovers with three, followed by
Gisele Uva with two. Carr also racked up five ground balls and Uva racked up two.
The Mules' final game of the regular season is at home on Wednesday, April 23, at 4:30.
