WATERVILLE, Maine – The Colby College softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader to Husson University on Monday afternoon at the Colby Softball Field. The Mules fell 5-1 to the Eagles in the opener and 3-0 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE: Husson 5, Colby 1

After a scoreless first inning, Husson (11-9) managed to plate five runs off five hits in the bottom of the second inning.

Colby (10-10) scored their lone run in the top of the seventh inning when junior Emma Burnham hit an RBI infield single which allowed junior Kelsey Sullivan to cross home plate to cap the scoring in game one.

Junior Kathryne Clay took the loss after allowing five earned runs off six hits in 1.2 innings. Junior KC DeSarno allowed a hit with four strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Sophomore Juliana Kiley finished 2-3 at the plate while Burnham, junior Carissa Cassidy, junior Victoria Ramirez and senior Erika MacLeod all recorded hits.

GAME TWO: Husson 3, Colby 0

Sophomore Ashley Correll and Husson sophomore hurler Ana Lang locked heads in a pitchers' duel as neither team found the scoreboard until the bottom of the fourth inning when Husson produced the game's first run off a sacrifice fly.

The Eagles scored two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning off a bases loaded walk and a Mule miscue for the 3-0 victory.

MacLeod finished with two hits for Colby while sophomore Ella Wilcox and senior Katelyn Hays all posted hits.

Correll yielded three unearned runs off four hits in 4.2 innings before being relieved by freshman Sophia Meade, who tossed 1.1 innings.
