Waterville, Maine. - Colby Women's Lacrosse won 20-3 against the Huskies of the University of Southern Maine (USM) today. The Mules are now 8-1 overall.

Colby came out swinging, with Jenna Goldstein scoring for the first time in the 45 seconds of the game. They managed to shut out USM for not one, not two, but three of the quarters, starting with the very first. Colby scored five unanswered goals for a score of 5-0 in the first quarter. Colby's Zoey Verbesey scored in the first 45 seconds of the second quarter, starting yet another unbeatable quarter for the Mules. This time, Colby one-upped themselves, scoring six unanswered goals, for a score of 11-0 heading into the second half. The Huskies came out swinging in the third quarter, scoring in quick succession to close the lead slightly. Colby would push back, though, and trade goals with USM until a score of 14-3. In the fourth quarter, though, the Mules hit their stride again, scoring six unanswered goals and securing a comfortable 20-3 win over the Huskies.

Colby was led offensively with Verbessy's three goals, followed closely by Goldstein, Julia Maimonis, and Chelsea Tzau each with two goals. An additional 11 players for the Mules each scored once. Gennie Littlejohn's five assists made this offensive push possible for the Mules, also helped by a universally unbeatable defense. Nine different players caused turnovers, nearly half of whom caused more than one. Ainsley Dion had an especially well-rounded game, controlling a team-high total of seven draws along with a goal, a ground ball, and two caused turnovers.
