Claremont, CA - Following a win against Occidental in their first spring break match, the Colby Women's Tennis team looked to make it back-to-back wins to start their trip in California against #16 ranked Williams College.
The Ephs started strong, taking the doubles point from the Mules 6-2 at the #1 position, 6-3 at the #2 position, and 7-6(5) at the #3 spot.
Williams was one point away from securing the win after Colby lost a pair of matches at the #2 and #3 positions. The Mules would not go down without a fight though. First-year
Waka Aida kept Colby's hopes alive with a clutch 7-5, 6-4 win at the #4 spot, adding to her impressive dual-match season in singles play. Williams answered with wins at the #5 and #6 positions, clinching the win.
Sophomore
Jade Finestone put up a valiant effort at the #1 spit, winning the first set of her match before falling in three sets. The Ephs defeated the Mules by a final score of 6-1, snapping Colby's three-match winning streak going into the contest.
Colby will look to bounce back from this loss tomorrow against Cal Tech in Pasadena at 10 am PT.Â
