Rochester, N.Y. - The Colby College track and field teams made a strong statement at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, with 8 qualifying Colby athletes.
At the Women's 4x400m relay,
Tally Zeller,
Kristina Pizzi,
Kaitlyn Ewald, and
Fiona Mejico first stayed in the games with taking 3rd place in preliminaries with a time of 3:47.91, then finally captured the NCAA championship with a winning time of 3:45.95, almost 2 seconds less than their performances at preliminaries. Individually,
Fiona Mejico competed in the 400m dash and placing 13th with a time of 56.77 seconds, and competed in the 200m dash, finishing 19th with a time of 25.40 seconds.
Kaitlyn Ewald joined her in the 400m, finishing 17th with a time of 57.37 seconds. On the men's side,
Ren Zanze represented Colby in the 400m dash, finishing 14th with a time of 48.96 seconds.
With the indoor season concluding on a high note, Colby will now shift focus to the outdoor track and field season, competing at the Emory Invitational I in Atlanta, Ga. on March 21.
