Clinton, NY - The Colby College Mules (11-5-4, 6-5-3) tied the #8 Hamilton College Colonials (15-4-1, 11-2-1) by a score of 3-3 in their Saturday afternoon matchup. The game went to a shootout, with Hamilton ultimately prevailing 1-0.
Colby was able to take advantage of Hamilton's miscues early in the game.
Will Molson took advantage of a Hamilton penalty to make the game 1-0 at the 6:48 mark.
Will Soloway and
Connor Gallagher assisted Molson on the play.
Leading 1-0 going into the second period,
Bobby Landry took advantage of another power play and scored on assists from
Dhillon Wilde and
Nick Stapleton at the 7:56 mark. Hamilton responded with two goals just four minutes later to make the score 2-2.
The Mules took the lead again in the third frame with an
Alex Keskintepe goal at the 13:52 mark.
Wyatt Schmidek and Soloway assisted him on the play. However, with less than a minute remaining, the Colonials scored to even the score at 3-3.
The game progressed to overtime, but neither team could score. In the shootout, Hamilton prevailed, 1-0.
The Mules will return to action in Waterville on Friday, February 14 when they take on the Wesleyan University Cardinals at 7:00 PM.
