Tyler Crist nets game-winner in OT as Mules defeat Cardinals

Waterville, ME - The Colby College Mules (12-5-4, 7-5-3) defeated the Wesleyan University Cardinals (5-13-13, 4-10-1) by a score of 1-0 in their Friday night matchup in Waterville.

The entire game was a gritty battle between two steady defenses. Neither team scored in three periods of play. Cooper Rautenstrauch saved all 25 shots that he faced, and Wesleyan's Patrick McDevitt saved 27 across three periods of action. Colby won 37 faceoffs to Wesleyan's 23. Nick Stapleton led the Mules with 13 faceoff wins.

Overtime was a short-lived affair. Jake MacDonald took the first shot, but it was blocked by Wesleyan. Tyler Crist ripped a shot that was saved. The Mules continued to put pressure on the Cardinals and they broke through at the 1:37 mark. Crist received the puck from Massimo Gentile and buried it in the back of the net to send all of Waterville into a frenzy.

The Mules will return to action on Saturday, February 15 at 3:00 PM when they take on the #13 Trinity College Bantams in the Jack Kelley Rink.
