Medford, MA - The Colby College Mules (13-5-5, 8-5-4) defeated the Tufts University Jumbos (9-12-1, 7-10-0) by a score of 3-2 in their Friday night matchup.
The first frame was relatively devoid of action until 16:39.
Jayden Grier received passes from
Will Soloway and
Wyatt Schmidek and buried the puck in the back of the net. Tufts evened the game in the second period with an early goal. In the third period,
Jake MacDonald scored to make the game 2-1 for the Mules. Jayden Mullins assisted MacDonald on the goal. However, with less than two minutes remaining in the contest, the Jumbos scored again to force overtime.
Soloway was the hero of overtime. He received passes from Grier and
Alex Keskintepe and slid the puck past the Jumbo's goalie to seal the victory for the Mules.
Cooper Rautenstrauch saved 39 shots for the Mules.
The Mules will return to action on Saturday, February 22 when they take on the Connecticut College Camels in New London, CT at 3:00PM.
