Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Mules Top Wesleyan 3-1

Middletown, Conn. – The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team faced the Cardinals of Wesleyan College in a Friday night NESCAC match-up. The Mules fought hard and come out on top with a 3-1 victory. 

Colby hit the ice with high energy, firing 13 shots on goal in the first period while goaltender Mandy Busky made five saves. Although the Mules earned a power play, they couldn't capitalize and entered the second period down 0-1. The second period was a back-and-forth battle, with another Colby power play and 17 shots on goal.  At 15:43, Beth Sinson netted the puck to tie the Mules up with the Cardinals at 1-1. The third period was more intense, with three penalties. When Colby gained their power play in the fourth minute of the period, Megan Martodam answered at the 5:00 mark to set the Mules ahead 2-1. The Mules maintained strong possession with 16 shots on goal, and Busky totaled 23 saves. With 22 seconds remaining, Georgia Pettygrove netted an empty-netter to secure the 3-1 win. With 22 seconds of play remaining, Georgia Pettygrove scored an empty netter, which secured the 3-1 NESCAC win for the Mules.

Colby will rematch the Cardinals tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. for more NESCAC action.
