Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mules Cruise Past Fort Kent, Stay Undefeated

Waterville, Maine - Colby Men's Basketball hosted the University of Maine at Fort Kent tonight, which turned into a rout for the team from up north. The Mules eased past the Bengals, 81-62, taking their record to 6-0 on the season.

Colby started the half strong, creating chances across the floor offensively and forcing three steals on defense, with two coming from Marcos Montiel. On the offensive end, Max Poulton and Sam Hinman combined for 26 first-half points and 6 three-pointers. The seniors were lethal from beyond the arc and tallied 16 of Colby's 21 first points. Fort Kent adjusted to try and disrupt the barrage of threes, but by doing so, Mason Dobie and Dan Civello found space in the paint, putting up 4 and 9 points, respectively. Civello also grabbed 10 rebounds in the half, a point away from a first-half double-double. The Mules lead 48-29 heading into the break.

In the second half, Colby aimed to control their lead and rotate the squad. The starters were rested, giving valuable minutes to younger players. This led to 12 different players scoring on the night and 44 points from the bench. Jack Gatjanis and Theo Pow both grabbed 6 points in the half, while Savion Stroud buried one of three three-pointers in the half en route to 7 points.

The Mules are back in action on Tuesday, December 2nd, as they host Maine Maritime Academy at 5:00 pm.
