Box Score Brunswick, Maine. - The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team played the Saint Anselm College Hawks at Bowdoin College on Saturday evening for the first round of the Bowdoin-Colby Thanksgiving Classic. Despite an early goal from the Hawks, Colby scored five unanswered goals to walk away with a 5-1 win. The Mules now stand 4-1-0 overall.
The Mules and Hawks both came out strong to start the first period, but after a scoreless ten minutes, St. Anselm got on the board first. Colby didn't take long to answer back, as sophomore
Will Soloway scored his second goal of the season to tie the game at 11:40, assisted by
Riley Rosenthal and
Lucas Marshall. A short 40 seconds later senior captain
Tyler Crist scored off passes from
Connor Gallagher and Soloway, giving the Mules their first lead of the game to end the period.
Colby didn't wait to get the second period underway, as sophomore
Colby Browne dangled around the goalie to score his fifth goal of the season, just 1:17 into the period. With a little over five minutes left to play in the second, sophomore
Ben Morgan passed to Browne who shot the puck on net and Gallagher came in with a slap shot and scored from the slot, his second of the season as the Mules extended their lead to 4-1. In the third, the Mules struck early again, sophomore
Massimo Gentile tapping in a pass from Browne less than two minutes into the period. Junior
Edward Baliotti held down the defensive end for Colby for a full 60 minutes, earning his first win of the season with 11 saves.
Colby is back in action Sunday at home against Gustavus Adolph for another non-conference game at 1pm.
