The Mules Edge Past Brooklyn College 54-49

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Colby Women's Basketball team pulled out the road win in a tight game against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College 54-49. The Mules moved to 5-0 on the season as Brooklyn fell to 5-1.

With ten lead changes and scores tied three times, Colby fought through the whole game. Finishing the first quarter down by three, the Mules capitalized on their shots outscoring the Bulldogs in both the second and third quarter to push them ahead. Colby put up 30 points in the paint and in a possession heavy low scoring game, utilized their chances on the free throw line going 100 percent in the first quarter and 50 percent or over in the other three. Defense locked down at the end of the game holding Brooklyn to only eight points in the final quarter securing the close win.

Kate Olenik powered the Mules offense with a game high 24 points in addition to her four assists and team high two blocks. Lydia Mordarski also got one of the team's three blocks and added in five points. Amelia Hanscom provided solid support with a double double scoring 11 points and grabbing 16 rebounds and adding an additional five assists. Emily Ryan led the team in both steals with two, and assists with six, showing strength on both sides of the ball.

Looking ahead, Colby is back on Mayflower Hill against Bates College on Tuesday, December 2.
