WATERVILLE, Maine — Colby swept Hamilton, 25–16, 26–24, 25–8, at the Margaret M. Crook Center this Friday evening to improve their record to 12–1 overall and 2–1 in the NESCAC.
The Mules established control in the opening set when a serving run by Reese Loyd produced an ace and powered a 13–4 advantage, highlighted by two kills from Brady Moseley and one from Cyanne Jones. Jones added a service ace to extend the margin to 20–8, and despite a late push from Hamilton, the set concluded 25–16 on a block by Moseley and Jones. The second set was closely contested throughout. Colby edged ahead on steady side-outs from Jones, Kendall Glover, and Alexa Peguero, but the Continentals leveled at 23–23. Out of a timeout, Moseley converted set point at 24–23 before Hamilton briefly drew even on a Colby service error. The Mules closed the frame, 26–24, on a Moseley kill from Jordan Lee followed by a Hamilton attack error. Colby removed doubt in the third with a 7–1 start, featuring consecutive points from Moseley and a transition kill by Sarah Friedrichs, with Sydney Bopp and Glover adding quick-strike finishes through the middle. Grujic delivered back-to-back service aces to widen the gap, and first-year Hayley Beigh made an immediate impact on the court with a late kill before teaming with Olivia Drayden on the match-clinching block for 25–8. The Mules hit .522 in the set and limited the Continentals to negative efficiency.
Moseley led Colby with 13 kills on .344 hitting, 12 digs, and 5.0 blocks. Jones and Glover added five kills apiece, with Jones recording five total blocks and Glover four. Grujic paced the offense with 16 assists and three aces while contributing 10 digs; Lee supplied 12 assists and an ace; and Loyd anchored the back row with 18 digs and two aces. Colby finished with advantages in kills (37–26), assists (37–26), digs (65–53), aces (8–2), and blocks (12–2), completing a comprehensive home sweep.
The Mules return to Mayflower Hill on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for another NESCAC game against Amherst College.
