Women's Soccer Headed into NESCAC Playoffs as the Fifth Seed

Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Soccer team is set to face No. 4 Amherst, the three-time defending NESCAC Champions, on Saturday November 1st to kickoff postseason play. The quarterfinal match is a rematch of the 2024 championship game, which the Mammoths won in penalty kicks (5-4) after the teams went scoreless in regulation and overtime.

During the regular season on September 28th, the two teams tied 1-1 at #23 Amherst with the loan Colby goal coming off the head of Jane Maguire in the 67th minute of play. The Mammoths own a 1-0-2 record against the Mules in tournament history.

With nine wins on the season, Colby ties last years record for most wins in a regular season since 2006. The last time the Mules qualified for the conference postseason in back-to-back years was in 2005 and 2006. This season also marks the second straight year and second time in program history that the Colby Women's Soccer team has defeated both Bowdoin (1-0) and Bates (4-2) to be crowned CBB Champions.

Be on the lookout for junior Abigail Jarvi this Saturday who leads the team in goals (nine) and is currently tied for the most in the conference including four game winners. Alongside Jarvi, Claire Walsh '28 and Amanda Schneider '29 sit in the top-20 in points in the NESCAC with 11 a piece. Schneider has scored three of her five goals from this season in October. On the defensive end of the field keep your eye on junior Samantha DeWitt who leads the team in time played by over 200 minutes, with 1,146 total, on top of two goals this season.

The quarterfinal matchup in Amherst, Mass. is scheduled for a 12:30pm start. Fans can follow alongside the action using the live video and live stats links as well as check out the NESCAC Championship Central page for more information. The winner will advanced to the semifinal round taking place November 8th with the championship game to follow the next day.

The Mules are looking to make back-to-back trips to the semifinals for the first time since the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
