Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Mules Fall to No. 8 Wesleyan in Final Home Game

Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Field Hockey team played the Wesleyan Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. Wesleyan found their lead in the first half and kept it for the remainder of the game, walking away with a 4-0 win over Colby. The Mules now stand 2-7 overall in the NESCAC conference.

The Mules and the Cardinals both came out fighting hard on Saturday, both teams possessing the ball evenly. Colby dominated the first half, recording 10 shots and five offensive penalty corners compared to Wesleyan's five shots and two corners. This offensive effort wasn't enough, as Wesleyan got on the scoreboard first, finding the back of the net in the beginning of the second quarter. The game remained 1-0 at halftime, as the Mules kept fighting for a goal, but it wasn't enough. Wesleyan scored two more goals in the third quarter, and a fourth goal with 10 minutes to play in the game. Colby kept pushing, but their three shots and two offensive penalty corners in the second half wasn't enough to get past the Wesleyan defense. First-year Ginna Jacoby recorded five saves for 45 minutes and sophomore Opal O'Rourke recorded one save for 15 minutes.

Colby is back in action on Tuesday at Bates at 6pm for their last regular season game.
