Hartford, Connecticut - Colby faced Trinity College this afternoon, with both teams looking for their first conference win of the year. After going down early in the second half, the Mules scored a late equalizer to grab their fourth tie of the season. Colby is now 5-4-4 overall, and 0-4-4 in NESCAC conference play.
The two teams were evenly matched throughout the contest, creating an end-to-end game in the first half as each pushed for the opener. The Bantams bettered the Mules in the shot column, 8-3, but both teams only managed to get one on target. In the second half, Chase Dolinko and Ryan Stewart tested the Trinity goalkeeper as Colby tallied nine shots. The latter, senior center back Stewart, was the savior for the Mules as his fourth shot of the game found the back of the net in the 89th minute to rescue a draw.
Colby continues to prove they're solid defensively, as they've held NESCAC opponents to four ties on the season, allowing their offense the opportunity to close out games. The center back pairing of Stewart and junior Jacob Sams has been vital in the Mules' success, while wing backs Oliver Daboo and CJ Supan complete a strong back four while also posing threats going forward.
Colby is back in action Saturday, October 25th, as they host Wesleyan in their last home game of the year.
