Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Colby Dominates Castleton 5-0 to Take Home The Castleton’s Bagley Invitational Win

Castleton, Vt. - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team played their second game of the weekend against the hosting team of the tournament, the Spartans of Castleton. The Mules ended their weekend strong, winning 5-0.

After yesterday's win, the Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team came out strong, dominating possession early against Castleton. The Mules fired four shots within the first three minutes and tallied 20 shots in the opening period compared to the Spartans' six. Despite gaining a power play, Colby couldn't capitalize, and the period ended scoreless. Eager for a breakthrough, the Mules wasted no time in the second period. Just 53 seconds in, Audrey Shirer opened the scoring, with assists by Molly Lefebvre and Lulu Gray. A mere 25 seconds later, Colby striked again as Lulu Gray punched one in the back of the net which was assisted by Breanna Studley. The Mules absolutely dominated this period with an outstanding 37 shots on goal and 5 key saves from goalie Grace Caligiuri. Ready to seal the deal, Colby came into the third period strong with Kylie Makuh scoring in the seventh minute of the period. After 10 more minutes of play, Colby gained a power play opportunity and Studley took advantage, giving the Mules a 4-0 lead. Not done yet, Makuh scored her second of the game just 34 seconds later. For the remaining 3 minutes, Colby showed strong offensive possession alongside outstanding defense and goaltending from Caligiuri, which led the Mules to the impressive 5-0 win.

Colby will head down to New York next weekend for a NESCAC match-up against Hamilton College.
