Castine, Maine - The weather isn't the only thing this time of year turning liquid into ice because Max Poulton has it flowing through his veins. The junior went off for 27 points, all coming from nine three-pointers, as Colby cruised past Maine Maritime, 81-54. Their first win of the year takes them to 8-3 overall.
Â
Although the scoreline doesn't suggest, the Mariners stayed in the game for the first fifteen minutes. They got out to an eight-point lead early on until two threes from Poulton and then a foul on a made three from Jack Gatjanis gave the Mules a four-point play, restoring their lead. Poulton knocked down three more at the six-minute mark, stretching Colby's lead. A dunk from Jack Lawson increased their momentum, followed by a steal and layup from Marcos Montiel as time expired, taking the Mules into the break up 41-28.
Â
The second half looked no different from the first as Montiel and Poulton came out and knocked down three shots from beyond the arc. Colby's lead grew over 20 points and continued to grow. Savion Stroud buried a triple of his own, while Dan Civello was active in the paint. Mitch Humphrey closed the game out confidently with two threes, taking the Mules' tally to 16 on the night and a 44% conversion rate.

Colby started 2025 strong and look to continue their undefeated year as they host Bates this Sunday, January 5th, at 2 pm.Â
