Williamstown, Mass. - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team rematched the Ephs of Williams College in their second game of the weekend. After 60 minutes of play and one round of five minute overtime, the game ended in a tie (0-0) and Colby fell short to the Ephs in a shootout.
Both Colby and Williams came into the first period with high energy, as the Mules won 13 of 17 faceoffs and recorded 10 shots on goal. Despite a power play opportunity in the 12th minute, Colby was unable to capitalize, and the period ended in a scoreless tie. Determined to take control, the Mules fired five shots within the first three minutes of the second period. The game remained a back-and-forth battle, with neither team able to break the deadlock through 2 periods of play. Mandy Busky delivered an outstanding performance, making 29 saves to keep the Mules in the game through regulation. In a tense five-minute overtime, Colby successfully killed off a Williams power play but couldn't find the net. The hard-fought battle ultimately came to a shootout, where the Mules fell just short to the Ephs.
The Mules will head home and host the Bantams of Trinity College next weekend.
