Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Colby’s 4-1 Victory over Trinity Marks Head Coach Holley Tyng’s 100th Career Win

Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team hosted the Bantams of Trinity College for an exciting Friday night NESCAC match-up. The Mules hard fought 4-1 victory gave head coach Holley Tyng her 100th career win.

Chasing a conference win, Colby set the tone early in the first period. After seven minutes of intense play, Breanna Studley put the Mules on the board, giving them a 1-0 lead. Although a power play opportunity didn't result in a second goal, Colby maintained their momentum. Just 24 seconds into the second period, Courtney Schumacher extended the lead to 2-0 with assists from Beth Sinson and Georgia Pettygrove. Six minutes later, Cailyn Murphy capitalized on a rebound from Megan Martodam to push the score to 3-0. Despite Trinity's two power play chances, Colby's defense held strong, with 10 key saves from goaltender Mandy Busky. The third period saw increased intensity and penalties on both sides, but the Mules continued to dominate. After lots of back and forth play, Sinson sealed the 4-1 victory with an empty-net goal at 17:56. Sinson led the game with seven shots, one goal, and two assists, while Busky recorded 27 total saves.

Colby will face Trinity again tomorrow afternoon with a 3pm puck drop.
