Mules Defeat Thomas in Final Non-Conference Matchup

Waterville, Maine. - Colby dominated today against Thomas College, defeating the Terriers 92-29. The Mules improve to an overall record of 9-7. 

The Mules started off and remained strong the entire day, and the first quarter was no exception. Colby scored over double Thomas's points for a score of 20-9 heading into the second quarter. The offensive push somehow grew even stronger for the Mules, scoring an additional 25 points and only conceding eight for an over 3:1 ratio of points scored vs. points conceded, resulting in a score of 45-17 at the half. The true highpoint of Colby's defensive game was the third quarter where they held down the Terriers to only four points, all the while pushing for an additional 22 of their own. That is over a 4:1 ratio of points scored vs. points conceded. The last quarter was no exception to the Mules' mastery, racking up an additional 25 and holding Thomas to eight for a final score of 92-29. 

The team stats today were the true stars; the 92 points made it the highest-scoring game of the season for the Mules. Additionally, Colby only missed a singular three point shot all day for a percentage of 91.7%. Colby outscored Thomas by an average ratio of 3:1 points scored vs. points conceded. 

On an individual level, Caroline Hartley led the Mules in points with 19 and in rebounds with 11, an impressive season- and career-first double-double. Kate Olenik also boasted an impressive 17 points and led the team in steals with four. Lydia Mordarski and Chelsea Ibenegbu each contributed 10 points, resulting in half of Colby's roster scoring in the double digits. 

The Mules are on the road this Saturday, January 25, at 3 pm, squaring off against the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College. The Bears and the Mules are the only two undefeated teams left in-conference for the NESCAC, so you won't want to miss it.
