Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Mules Snap Streak, Upset Bowdoin

Brunswick, Maine—The Colby Women's Soccer Team put the NESCAC on notice with a thrilling 1-0 victory on Saturday against Bowdoin. Colby snapped a 13-game winless streak against the Polar Bears that dated back to 2009.

The deciding and lone goal came early from Samantha DeWitt, who converted on a penalty kick in the 12th minute. DeWitt, who was named to the NESCAC second team last season, grabbed her first goal.

Bowdoin, which finished third last year in the NESCAC and advanced all the way to the third round of the NCAA tournament, was dealt its first loss of the season by the young Mules squad. They were held to only five shots the entire game, leaving goalie MK Marshall limited work. She notched her second clean sheet of the season.

The Mules will stay busy with a three-game week. On Wednesday, they will travel to USM before a showdown against Tufts and a non-conference match against Hartford. They will return to action on Mayflower Hill for a homecoming tilt against Connecticut College.
