Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Soccer team stayed undefeated with a 3-2 road victory against the Huskies of the University of Southern Maine. Colby avenged the demons of a year ago when they were upset by USM with a relatively easy victory.
Colby led by two goals for the majority of the second half and continued to benefit from solid defensive play. Still, the Huskies showed they were not going down without a fight when they got one through in the fourth minute. Colby responded just nine minutes later with a goal from
Sophie DiGrande, her third of the season. The score would stay locked at 1-1 for the remainder of the second half.
In the 51st minute,
Abigail Jarvi put the Mules in front 2-1, where it would stay until the 69th minute when
Ella Caraluzzi put the Mules in front for good. USM would manage to grab a second goal but it would not be enough as Colby escaped Gorham with the victory.
With the victory, Colby moves to 3-0 on the season. This marks the first time they have won their first three games since at least 1999. They will put their undefeated streak on the line this weekend with two difficult road matches against Tufts and Hartford.
