Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Men's Soccer team grabbed a win Tuesday night in their second home match of the 2024 season. With a late header goal by
Colin Leon the Mules took the victory 1-0. The non-conference win brings the Mules up to an even 3-3 on the season as the Gulls drop to 3-4-1.
Colby was on the offensive push from the jump out shooting Endicott seven to one in the first half including three saves from the Gulls goalkeeper between the 24th and 30th minute. Despite the pressure from the Mules, the teams went into the half scoreless.
The Gulls brought a higher pace of play into the second frame tallying eight shots total including two off the crossbar but Colby goalie
Brendan McCarthy stood his ground and picked up four saves in the half to grab his second shutout of the season. The lone goal of the game came in the 77th minute of play. Junior
Jason Wallack played a lobbing ball into the box from the right side were sophomore Leon was in the perfect spot to place it off his head and into the right side of the net past the Endicott goalkeeper for his first goal of the season. The Mules held onto the lead for the reminder of the match with tight defensive play to secure the 1-0 victory.
Colby Men's Soccer will remain at home this weekend hosting Williams Saturday at 2:30pm and #25 Amherst Sunday at 2:00pm for two key NESCAC matchups.
