Middlebury, Vt. - The Colby Women's Lacrosse Team faced off against Middlebury College in a NESCAC match up today, falling to the first-ranked Panthers 17-6. The Mules' record is 3-3 in conference and 7-3 overall.
Middlebury came out swinging, scoring in under a minute into the game. Colby fought back, though, wrapping up the quarter with a goal in the last minute and bringing the score to 5-3. In the second quarter, the Panthers continued to pull ahead, bringing the lead to 9-4 at the end of the half. The Mules were unfazed and came back with a vengeance in the third quarter, scoring twice in the first two minutes. Middlebury didn't let it last, scoring enough to secure a 12-6 lead at the end of the third quarter. The defense for Middlebury picked up in the fourth quarter, shutting out the Mules and securing a 17-6 win over Colby.
Goalkeeper
Sarah Hearns had a remarkable showing, out-saving the Panthers eight to one. While Middlebury's Susan Rowley was the highest scorer of the game, Colby had an incredibly diverse set of scorers.

Paige Saudek,
Stella Regan,
Cami McDonald, and
Tori Congdon each scored once.
Julia Jardina and
Ainsley Dion dominated draw controls, Jardina racking up six and Dion five.
The Mules next match is at home against NESCAC rival Bowdoin on Wednesday at 7 pm.
