Waterville, ME - The Colby College Men's Tennis team defeated Trinity 8-1 in Colby's seventh NESCAC matchup of the year, on Saturday afternoon. The matchup moved inside following rain delays.
In doubles, Colby took a 3-0 lead with decisive wins at court 1 and 2, and a tiebreaker win at court 3. First years Sandeep Alapati and Paul Dandler won 8-4, and Senior captain Sam Henry and junior captain Jake Cohen won 8-3. Senior captain Joey Barrett and sophomore Aidan Kwong won their match 8-7(6).
In the first flight of singles matches, the Mules came out swinging, with a 6-0 6-0 win at court 2 by Cohen and a 6-1 6-2 win at court 1 by Barrett. At court 3 and 4 respectively, Henry pulled his match 6-0 6-3 and Dandler his match 6-1 6-4. Alapati then rounded out the last win of the day for the Mules at court 5 with a 6-4 6-3 victory.
Colby is back in action Sunday, April 21st against Wesleyan.
