Lewiston, ME- Colby Women's Tennis beats Bates 8-1 in a rival matchup.
The Mules started strong in doubles, with victories from
Sam Riordan and
Sydney Landau 8-3, and
Ellie Gershaw and
Amelie Gal 8-4. The senior pairing was the first to finish, putting the Mules on the scoreboard. Gershaw and Gal came up big, putting the Mules up 2-1 going into singles. Bella Suk and
Michaela Landry battled their opponents hard, ultimately losing 4-8.Â
Colby swept singles play, with
Jade Finestone claiming the first victory with a convincing score of 6-3, 6-0. Gershaw was second on the board, winning 6-1, 7-5. Freshman Landry clinched the victory, with a final score of 6-3, 6-2. Landau and Riordan both got the job done at the one and two spot. The most notable win of the day was for Gal, who competed in her first singles match of the season. Gal had a three set thriller, winning 6-2, 1-6, 6-1.
The Mules are back in action on Saturday as they take on Trinity at 10 am.
