Medford, MA - The Colby College Men's Tennis team fell 1-8 to Tufts University in the fourth NESCAC matchup of the year, on Saturday morning. Despite rain and wind, the teams were able to complete the match outdoors.
In doubles, the Mules fell at 2 and 3, but pulled out a victory at court 1 in a tight tiebreaker. Senior captain Sam Henry and junior captain Jake Cohen won the match 8-7(4).
In singles, Colby had some close matches but was swept by the Jumbos. On court one, senior captain Joey Barrett lost the first set 5-7 before falling in the next, 3-6. At court 2, Cohen had a chance to win the first set in a tiebreak, but stellar play from Tufts led to a 7-2 tiebreak score, and a 6-2 second set. At court 3, Henry lost 2-6 4-6 with a break point chance to tie up the second set 5-5.
Colby is back in action Sunday, April 14th at Bates.
