Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls to Third-Ranked Tufts

Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Lacrosse Team took on third-ranked Tufts University today in a NESCAC match, falling to the Jumbos 15-6. The Mules' record now stands at 6-2 overall, with a NESCAC record of 3-2.

Colby came out swinging in the first quarter, scoring in the first two minutes of the game. Tufts matched the competitive energy, however, pulling ahead and ending the quarter with the 5-2 lead. The Jumbos kept up their stride in the second quarter, scoring three times, but the Mules fought back, scoring to interrupt their streak. The first half concluded with a score of 10-3. Colby disrupted Tufts' rhythm in the third quarter, stifling the Jumbos and matching them goal for goal. Heading into the fourth quarter, the score was 12-5. Tufts would regain their footing, however, and pull ahead. Colby went down fighting, though, scoring in the final two minutes of the game. The final score was 15-6.

Notable performances by the Mules include Julia Jardina's hat trick and four ground controls. Ainsley Dion also contributed with four ground controls. Olivia Kraus saw her first goal of the season and her career, demonstrating impressive mental toughness with that final goal to round out the game.

The Mules journey to Gorham, Maine on Wednesday at 6:00 pm to face off against the University of Southern Maine.
