Redlands, CA - The Colby College Men's Tennis team fell 2-5 to Redlands in the second matchup of spring break, on Tuesday evening. Colby came into this matchup ranked #22 in the country and Redlands ranked #28. This match tested the Division 1 tennis scoring format where doubles is worth a total of one point, instead of three separate. The scoring was first to six in doubles as well, instead of a pro set to 8.
In doubles, senior captain Sam Henry and junior captain Jake Cohen lost a tight tiebreaker, 5-7. Redlands took the other doubles matches on 2 and 3. Redlands then took the doubles point and led 1-0.
In singles, Cohen continued his undefeated season with a stellar performance, winning 6-2 6-1 at line 2. A highlight also includes first year Sandeep Alapati pulling out a victory in the third set, 6-3 5-7 1-0(4).
Colby has an off day on Wednesday and is back in action Thursday, March 28th against Chapman University for the third California match.
