Mules Top Union College in Non-Conference Match

Clearwater, Fla. - The Colby Women's Lacrosse Team came out on top against Union College today, defeating the Chargers 14-10. The Mules improve to a record of 7-1 overall.

Colby came out of the gate swinging, scoring in the first minute of the game. Union fought back, however, rounding out the first quarter with a score of 3-3. The Mules utterly dominated in the second quarter, scoring four unanswered goals and holding the Chargers at zero. The score at the half was 7-3. The third quarter was high-scoring for both teams, trading goals until the end of the quarter where both teams at least doubled their scores. Colby maintained a comfortable lead of 14-7 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw Union pick up the offense, scoring three unanswered goals to round out the game. The final score was 14-10.

Colby saw some strong performances, namely Ally Franz with four goals and an assist and Julia Jardina with three goals. Union also had some impressive players, including Maddie Schiller with four goals of her own, but the most impressive part of the Mules' performance was the diverse group of scorers: seven different players each scored once.

Colby's next match is at home against third-ranked Tufts University on Saturday, March 30, at 3:00 pm.
