Baseball to Host UMF Sunday for the First Game of the Season

Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Baseball team is ready for the 2024 season to start as they prepare to host the University of Maine-Farmington Sunday for some non-conference action. The Mules will look to add on their 20th straight win against the Beavers dating back to 2006.

Last season Colby finished with a strong 25-12 overall record while going 7-5 in conference play as they finished third hosting the NESCAC Tournament. Elijah Cohen, Teddy Durbin, Marcus Forrester, Josh Houle, Genki LeClair, Patrick McConnell, Brady O'Brien, Cole Palmeri, Noah Reichman, Matthew Scibilio, Nicholas Thompson and Cole Tully.

All of Colby's top-six hitters from last year return to the lineup to give the Mules a powerful core at the plate this season. Ryan Grace '25 (.350 avg, 50 hits, 33 runs, 33 RBIs), Forrester (.325 avg, 41 hits, 27 runs, 22 RBIs), Palmeri (.313 avg, 41 hits, 34 runs, 32 RBIs), Clint Flippo '25 (.284 avg, 40 hits, 35 runs, 27 RBIs), O'Brien (.274 avg, 37 hits, 37 runs, 35 RBIs) and McConnell (.241 avg, 32 hits, 24 runs, 20 RBIs). Returners to the mound this season who appeared in ten or more games last year includes Thompson, Joe Sylvester '26, Thomas Rioux '26, Ryan Grecco '25 and Durbin.

Colby will be led by Head Coach Jesse Woods who enters his sixth season with the Mules. Also returning to the coaching staff is Pitching Coach James Baker in his third season and Assistant Coach Taylor Lockhart in his fourth season. They are joined this season by assistant coaches Quinn Stebbins, Ken Walsh and Steve Lockard

Sunday's matchup is scheduled for 12:00pm on Coombs Field inside the Colby College Baseball and Softball Complex. Check the schedule tab to follow alongside the Mules this season and find out when they come to a location near you.
