Box Score Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team returned to home ice to host the Wesleyan Cardinals on Friday evening. Colby won 2-0, improving their record to 13-7-1 overall and 5-7-1 against NESCAC opponents.
Colby dominated the game early on putting on pressure in the offensive zone. They took 14 shots on goal but were unable to score in the first period. The second period was more back and forth but Colby once again outshot Wesleyan 18-9.
Sophia Kennedy put the Mules in the lead, scoring the first goal of the game with assists by
Maria Pierce and
Anna Staton. Wesleyan picked up the pressure in the third period but goaltender
Grace Caligiuri and the Mules defense held strong.
Sophia Kennedy added her second goal of the game with assists by
Beth Sinson and
Megan Martodam to secure a 2-0 win for Colby.
The Mules will host Wesleyan again tomorrow afternoon along with their senior celebration.
