Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Basketball team faced a tough loss tonight against Amherst College with a final score of 64-59. This brings the Mules' season record to 12 wins and 10 losses, and a conference record of 4-5. The Mammoths are now looking at a record of 19-4 with 6-3 in the NESCAC.
Colby started off this game with an incredible lead of 15-7 in the first quarter. However, Amherst managed to bounce back in the 2nd, leading the teams to enter halftime with a score of 26-25. The Mules proceeded to have an incredibly strong third quarter, gaining a nine point lead, however, the Mammoths' sizable bounce back in the final quarter led them to take the win.Â
Kate Olenik and
Lydia Mordarski dominated the court with Olenik securing 14 points and Mordarski with 12. Olenik also had one steal, two blocks, and seven defensive rebounds while Mordarski had two steals and seven rebounds, four of which were offensive.
Ana Von Rumohr and
Chelsea Ibenegbu's performances are not to be overlooked either. Van Rumohr scored a total of ten points while grabbing an offensive rebound while Ibenegbu scored nine points with one steal and four rebounds.
The Mules will stay on The Hill to play their last game of the regular season tomorrow, February 10th, against Hamilton College.Â
