Waterville, Maine - After a close game with Amherst on Friday, the Colby College Women's Basketball team fell just short of a win against Amherst today with a final score of 52-49. The Mules now face a final season record of 12-11 overall and 4-6 in the NESCAC. Hamilton College now stands at 17-7 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
The Mules played very well in the first quarter, securing a one point lead. However, Hamilton gained an advantage in the second quarter leading the teams into halftime with a score of 27-25. The third quarter was another neck-on-neck battle, and the final quarter was an incredibly close one with the teams each netting 16 points. Overall, the score tied four times and the lead changed seven times. But in the end, Hamilton scraped by with a mere three point win.
Chelsea Ibenegbu and Ana Von Rumohr truly excelled on the court today with Ibenegbu scoring 11 points and Von Rumohr with nine. Ibenegbu reached three season highs during today's game with 12 field goal attempts, one 3-point field goals made, and two 3-point field goals attempted. Van Rumohr also hit a season high with an impressive three 3-point field goals made. Lastly, Lili Nagy hit a couple of season records as well with one 3-point field goal made, three rebounds, and one steal.Â
This was the final game of the regular season for the Mules who will now wait to see their post season seeding and matchup.Â
