WATERVILLE, Maine – Colby Volleyball concluded their regular season with a decisive 3-0 sweep over Connecticut College, cementing their place as the top seed in the NESCAC and securing a spot in the upcoming championship. This dominant win showcased Colby's high level of coordination and skill, with each player contributing to an impressive display of offensive and defensive power. The Mules' disciplined play and strategic depth allowed them to control the pace from the outset.
In the first set, Colby established their rhythm and led consistently, fueled by effective kills from
Brady Moseley and
LJ Grant, alongside dynamic blocks from
Sydney Bopp and
Sarah Friedrichs. Connecticut College found it challenging to break through Colby's front line, and the Mules ultimately took the set 25-17. This momentum carried into the second set, where Colby's serving shone, with standout contributions from
Jordan Lee, who tallied three aces. The Mules' defense remained unbreakable, as Bopp and
Cyanne Jones locked down the net, resulting in a 25-13 victory in the second set.
Colby continued their dominance in the third set, opening with a quick 6-1 lead. Moseley once again led the offense with consistent kills, supported by precise assists from Grujic and Lee. The Camels managed a few successful plays but struggled to counter the Mules' cohesion and blocking power. The final set ended at 25-15, and Colby completed the sweep, wrapping up their regular season with a commanding statement win.
Top performances for Colby included Moseley with 11 kills and 10 digs, Lee with three service aces, and Bopp, who led the team in blocks with six. Grant and Jones were also impactful, contributing five kills each. This victory not only secures Colby's position as the #1 seed in the NESCAC but also boosts the team's confidence and momentum as they head into the NESCAC Championship. No.1 Colby is now set to host No. 8 Connecticut College in the NESCAC Quarterfinals at 2:00pm in Waterville, ME.
