Mongan & Gould Wrap up the Cross Country Season at NCAA's

Terre Haute, Ind. - Catherine Mongan and Chris Gould representing the Colby Men's and Women's Cross Country teams wrapped up the 2024 season today at the NCAA DIII Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

Mongan was up first with an 11:00am start to the women's race. She managed to finish 153rd overall, 24th in the NESCAC, out of the 290 individual athletes with a time of 22:38.7 in the 6k race. Gould hit the course an hour later at noon with the start of the men's race. He grabbed a 134th place finish, good for 17th in the NESCAC, out of 294 total competitors with a time of 25:23.5 in the 8k race.

"The hard work Catherine and Chris put in this fall definitely showed during the championship season," stated Head Coach Jared Beers. "Catherine and Chris cut off 23 seconds and 1:14 seconds respectively on this course from back in September. Chris used his previous nationals experience to improve 85 places from his race in 2022, and Catherine faced her first nationals head-on running strong in a highly competitive field! It was great to see their hard work and dedication pay off."

This concludes the 2024 cross country season as the athletes now shift their focus on the indoor track & field season.
