Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team hosted the Rams of Suffolk University for a non-conference match-up in their season opener on Tuesday night. The Mules came out on top with a 6-3 victory over the Rams to secure their first win of the season.
The Mules came out strong in the first period with goals by
Breanna Studley and
Lulu Gray. 54 seconds after the 2nd goal,
Anna Staton scored the Mules' 3rd goal which was their second power play goal of the game. The Mules dominated in the second period out shooting Suffolk 28-10 and
Georgia Pettygrove scored a goal assisted by
Sydney McCormack. The Rams brought more pressure in the 3rd period, but
Lulu Gray scored her second goal of the game and
Molly Lefebvre found the back of an empty net with 38 seconds remaining in the 3rd period to solidify the 6-3 win for Colby.
The Mules return to action on Friday night at Bowdoin for their first NESCAC match-up of the season.
