Waterville, Maine - In the Colby Women's Soccer team's first NESCAC playoff game since 2018, the Mules walked it off over third-ranked Williams in Overtime. The win will deliver Colby to the semifinals for the first time since 2006.
Colby fell to the Ephs in regular season play in a closely fought 1-0 battle in Waterville. But, the Mules upset Williams on Saturday for their first win against the team since 2006.
The Mules fell into a hole early, dropping a goal in the 23rd minute before answering right back just two minutes later. The goal belonged to
Annie Liebich, the first of the season for the physical Mules defender.
The game would remain scoreless for the rest of regulation, forcing a golden-goal overtime period. At the seven-minute mark, a long ball from Liebich found
Abigail Jarvi, who took a touch to avoid the charging Williams goalkeeper before shooting on an empty net for the game-winner. The goal was Jarvi's eighth on the season.
The win marked Colby's tenth on the season, matching the highest win total since 1995. The Mules will look for two more next weekend when they travel to Wesleyan to battle the top-seeded Cardinals. The winner of that match will play for the NESCAC championship against the winner of Amherst versus Tufts.
