WATERVILLE, Maine –*Colby Volleyball continued their undefeated streak in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), sweeping Trinity College 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-19) at home in the Margaret M. Crook Center on Friday night. This victory improved the Mules' record to a flawless 9-0 in NESCAC play and 21-2 overall, while Trinity dropped to 5-4 in conference play and 19-4 on the season.
The first set saw Colby and Trinity in a close contest, with the Bantams initially taking a slight lead by capitalizing on Colby's attack errors. However, a timely Colby timeout recalibrated the Mules' momentum, allowing them to close the gap. The set remained tight as both teams traded points, but late kills ultimately handed Colby a 25-22 win, securing an early edge in the match. In a thrilling second set, Colby edged out Trinity 27-25 in a nail-biting finish. The Bantams came out strong, with early kills giving them a slight lead. However, Colby fought back, balancing the score in a back-and-forth rally. With the set tied at 24-24, Colby surged ahead as Brady Moseley delivered a decisive kill, followed by a crucial block from Sarah Friedrichs and Cyanne Jones, sealing the set. This hard-fought win gave the Mules a confidence boost heading into the third set. With the sweep within reach, Colby entered the third set with focus and energy. They established an early lead, and despite Trinity's attempts to rally, Colby's defense held firm, stalling the Bantams' offense. A final kill from Moseley ended the set at 25-19, completing the 3-0 sweep.
Moseley led Colby's offense with a match-high 15 kills and a team-high 14 digs, delivering key points throughout. Junior LJ Grant added 11 kills, five digs, and two blocks, while first-year Cyanne Jones contributed seven kills and a match-high four blocks to keep Trinity's attackers in check. Gabby Grujic supported the Mules' offense with a match-high 20 assists, while Jordan Lee added 18 assists and three service aces.
Colby will looks to maintain their perfect NESCAC record as they face Connecticut College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m for their last game in regular season.
