Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Caleb Horsch

Free Kick Goal sees Colby Tie Trinity

Waterville, Maine - The Colby Women's Soccer team played to a competitive 1-1 draw on Saturday against the Trinity Bantams. A large crowd was present on a beautiful fall day for the penultimate home game of the year.

Trinity came out strong offensively in the first half, but the Colby defense tightened down, and the game remained locked at zero through the halfway point. However, early in the first half, the Bantams found the back of the net after a loose ball inside the penalty box found its way to a Trinity forward, who put it past goalie MK Marshall.

Despite the deficit, Colby continued to play aggressively and started to put together strong offensive possessions. In the 68th minute, they found their equalizer when a Trinity handball just outside the 18-yard box teed up Elo Luzkow on a direct kick. She converted on a low shot to the left for her third goal of the season.

Both sides continued to have solid opportunities, but a fast break in the other direction nearly resulted in a Trinity goal had it not been for a fantastic stop from Marshall.

Sophie DiGrande and Avery Barton were constant presents on the Trinity half as they combined for five shots.

Colby moves to 8-3-2 on the season and 3-3-2 in conference with the draw. At the end of the weekend, that was good for sixth place in the NESCAC with a two-point edge over Hamilton. Colby will face a brutal test next weekend when they travel to #11 Wesleyan, which sits atop the NESCAC leaderboard.
